On January 26, 2012 the Executive Committee of the Media Association Ja. Ltd. and media heads paid a courtesy call on Minister Sandrea Falconer, Minister Without Portfolio (Information), at the Office of the Prime Minister to welcome her to her new position and apprise her of issues that were still on the table.

The MAJ Chairman conveyed congratulations to the Minister and expressed pride that the position was filled by someone from the media industry.

Discussions which were held included:-
• Jamaica’s Defamation Laws and the Access to Information Act which were still in Parliament
• The MAJ’s position papers on the Broadcasting Commission’s Nordicity Report and also their proposals on the Digital Switchover and Payola.

The Minister assured the media heads that all concerns would be addressed and further meetings held.
