February 4, 2011 Guests: Crime Stop – Peter John Thwaites, Chairman; Prudence Gentles, Manager; Mike Hirst, Director, Media Relations Crime Stop thanked MAJ for their general and media support. They suggested that the media could organize a general campaign addressing issues such as wearing seatbelts and helmets. They reported that the police needed assistance with organized gangs and that crime was down in areas where calls were made to Crime Stop.
April 1, 2011 Guests: International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (Jamaica Council of Churches) – Rev. Gary Harriott, General Secretary; Elaine Commissiong; Joan McDonald; Dwayne Fagan The JCC would be hosting the World Council of Churches Convocation in May 2011 themed “Glory to God, Peace on Earth”. They requested media coverage. May 6, 2011 Guests: Jamaica Music Society – Evon Mullings, General Manager; Dianne Daley, Corporate Secretary JAMMS, an arm of the International Federation of Phonographic Industries, advised that they were launched in 2007 to administer and protect the rights of Record Producers and international recording companies. Their mandate is to facilitate the legal use of their members’ repertoire, grant licenses to entities that broadcast or publicly perform sound recordings, collect and distribute to its members royalties paid by music users. They encouraged media heads to provide proper publishing data for producers.
